Based on three surveys taken over the last 12 months, a majority of companies still have problems with employees accessing sexually explicit Web sites during work hours. The survey of more than 100 companies by Elron Software Inc., Cambridge, Mass., indicates that sex-site surfing is occurring at between 62% and 72% of the companies. "The study shows that inappropriate Web usage is widespread in the workplace," says Stephen Elliot, senior analyst of In-Stat Group, a Scottsdale, Ariz.-based market-research company.

Companies can download a free trial of the software used to monitor Internet use from Elron's Web site. The software starts at $995.
