Compiled ByDeborah Austin Kirus Inc. has announced availability of a new Web-based system for reverse supply-chain management. The reverse supply chain is the return path of a product from the customer, through repair and redeployment to its final placing. The Kirus System automates the business processes and information exchange to manage this process -- wherein, it says, return rates average 20% and depreciation rates may reach 3% per week while returned products are processed. The system is designed to deliver real-time data visibility so original equipment manufacturers can monitor product inventory, cycle times, returns costs, and supplier operations. It collects and tracks information using bar codes and serial numbers. Kirus, provider of reverse supply-chain management e-business applications, is headquartered in Irvine, Calif.
