The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency is accepting proposals for new National Brownfields Assessment Pilot projects and supplemental assistance for existing ones. The assessment pilots, each funded up to $200,000 over two years, test assessment models and facilitate coordinated assessment and clean-up efforts at the federal, state, and local levels. The funding will be allocated by April 2002. The deadline for submitting proposals for new assessment pilots is Dec. 10. The deadline for submitting proposals for 2002 supplemental assistance is Nov. 26. Supplemental funding is available for projects awarded in fiscal year 2000 (before Sept. 30, 2000).
