The manufacturing conference season is beginning to go full tilt. Upcoming events include:

  • Best Practices From America's Best Plants conferences will be held Sept. 22-24 in Pittsburgh and Oct. 27-29 in Charlotte. Leaders from alumni recipients of IndustryWeek's annual America's Best Plants awards--including Wainwright Industries CEO Don Wainwright and Dana Corp. CEO Southwood Morcott--present practices for attaining and retaining manufacturing success.
  • The Association for Manufacturing Excellence 1997 International Conference will be held Sept. 30-Oct. 3 in San Antonio. Guest speakers include Jim Adams, chairman of Texas Instruments Inc., and Paula Marshall-Chapman, CEO, Bama Pie Cos.
  • The University of Dayton presents Kaizen: Maximizing Production Flow, from Nov. 10-14. Attendees will learn and apply continuous-improvement techniques for manufacturing.
  • From Nov. 23-25, the Supply-Chain Council fall conference will be held in Dallas. Ways to revitalize customer and supplier relationships will be assessed.
