Chicago-based McDonnell & Miller, a unit of ITT Industries, has become the first Illinois company to receive ISO 14001 certification. ISO 14001 is an environmental management system standard that requires a commitment to continuous improvement, as well as monitoring of such environmental impact areas as energy and water consumption, sewage discharge and airborne emissions. "Receiving ISO 14001 certification is a significant accomplishment for McDonnell & Miller," says Robert Dvorak, the company's general manager. "The result of following ISO 14001 guidelines is a safer, healthier workplace with reduced environmental impact."

McDonnell & Miller manufactures boiler controls, flow switches, liquid level controls and Hoffman Specialty steam products for various types of applications.
