Zarrella has resigned as General Motors Corp. executive vice president and General Motors North America president to take over the reins of Bausch & Lomb Inc., Rochester, N.Y. Zarrella was formerly with Bausch & Lomb from 1985 to 1994, where he most recently served as president, COO, and as a member of the board of directors. On Tuesday, Nov. 13, Zarrella was elected chairman and CEO of the global eyecare company. Robert Lutz, vice chairman of GM product development, will take on the additional role of chairman of GM North America. Gary Cowger, group vice president of GM manufacturing and labor relations, has been named president of GM North America. Both changes at the Detroit automaker are effective immediately.
