Presidential candidate and Vice President Al Gore will be the keynote speaker at the first Hispanic Economic Development Town Hall Meeting. The gathering will be held on Sept. 16 at Copley Symphony Hall in San Diego. The meeting will take place during the 20th Annual National Convention of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC), Sept. 15-18, at the San Diego Convention Center. This year's convention theme is "Hispanic Entrepreneurs: Leaders of the New Millennium." Also participating in the meeting will be: Aida Alvarez, administrator of the U.S. Small Business Administration; Len Lauer, president of Sprint Consumer Services Group; and F. Robert Salerno, president and chief operating officer of Avis Rent A Car Inc. Seven thousand business owners, corporate executives, and government officials are expected to attend the convention. "The town hall meeting will give an overview of the state of Hispanic businesses in the United States," says George Herrera, president and CEO of USHCC. "We welcome Vice President Gore's participation and look forward to a constructive dialogue."
