ByJohn S. McClenahen Following a 0.4% increase in May, new orders for manufactured goods increased 0.7% in June to $363.2 billion, the U.S. Commerce Department reported Aug. 4. New orders for manufactured durables -- generally large ticket items like autos and appliances that are designed to last three years or more -- increased 0.9% in June to $192 billion, $400 million more than previously reported. New orders for nondurable manufactured goods increased 0.5% in June to $171.2 billion.
