KUWAIT: Kuwait's 175,000 barrels per day (bpd) Mina Al-Shuaiba refinery is back to normal production levels after a power problem that led to a decline in production over the Middle East's Thursday and Friday weekend, an industry source said June 21. The decline in production was estimated at a few thousand barrels for a few hours, the source said. Shuaiba is the smallest of the Gulf state's three domestic refineries that have a combined production capacity of about 895,000 bpd. The other two refineries are Mina Al-Ahmadi and Mina Abdulla. State-owned oil conglomerate, Kuwait Petroleum Corp., which oversees the country's oil industry, has announced plans to increase domestic refining capacity to 1 million bpd in 2000.
