Lotus Development Corp. further extended its reach into the corporate enterprise last week by connecting its Lotus Domino suite of Web-based software to ERP systems from PeopleSoft Inc. and Oracle Corp. What the IBM unit's move means for Oracle and PeopleSoft business applications customers is that they will now be able to integrate their ERP systems data for use over the Web. The idea is to make it easier for companies to share business information with suppliers and customers. To be released in the first quarter of next year, the Lotus Domino Connector for Oracle Applications was demonstrated in late October at the Oracle Applications Users group in Honolulu. Similarly, the PeopleSoft connector, due out at the same time, was shown at Lotus' booth at the PeopleSoft Users Conference last week in San Francisco.
