A new hosted service from MCI Telecommunications Corp., Atlanta, allows larger businesses to expand their electronic commerce/EDI programs to smaller, non-EDI capable trading partners. Called Simple Form EC, the company says the new Web-based Electronic Data Interchange service provides a secure and reliable custom solution for businesses to use in reaching new trading partners.

"While increasing an enterprises' efficiency in conducting normal daily business transactions, the new service will decrease the possibility of making financial mistakes associated with the manually keying in of data," said Stephen Von Rump, MCI vice president of Enterprise Services.

Applications for MCI's Simple Form EC include: electronic purchase orders, electronic invoicing, electronic product brochures and information, and improved customer service.
