ByJohn S. McClenahen Secretary Donald L. Evans, rather than a lower-level official in the U.S. Commerce Department, should personally lead the implementation of the presidential report on U.S. manufacturing released on Jan. 16, says the Washington, D.C.-based National Coalition For Advanced Manufacturing (NACFAM). Specifically, the coalition wants the commerce secretary to lead a yet-to-be-created presidential manufacturing council as well as a federal government inter-agency working group on manufacturing.
