In Results-Based Leadership: How Leaders Build the Business and Improve the Bottom Line, authors Dave Ulrich, Jack Zenger, and Norm Smallwood contend that effective leadership requires more than character and values; it demands results. The book shows how to deliver results in four specific areas: results for employees, the organization, customers, and investors. Published by Boston-based Harvard Business School Press, the book also provides action-oriented guidelines readers can follow to measure, develop, and hone their own leadership skills. "If this book leaves readers with only one message, it should be that results matter, and that results must be measured," say the authors. "Results-based leaders must feel comfortable with metrics. They must create a unique dashboard of gauges to monitor organizational performance."
