IBM Corp. and Dassault Systemes have introduced a new release of the popular Catia computer-aided-design system, which offers seamless access to information in IBM's ProductManager PDM system. The result is that users throughout the extended enterprise--from suppliers to product designers to engineers--can have access to accurate, up-to-date design data as needed.
The new Catia version also includes a new assembly modeling function for customers in fabrication and assembly industries; a new generative shape-modeling system for automotive and consumer goods customers; and new surface and multi-axis machining capabilities.
In a related announcement, IBM began offering a Web interface for ProductManager. This allows companies to expand the availability of design information throughout the enterprise, giving engineers and others a low-cost, easy means to obtain design data for any task.
