The software industry is heading toward a per-user cost structure, according to Oracle Corp. With that in mind, the Redwood, Calif.-based software provider is offering a user-based model for its outsourcing services, thus creating "transparent IT budgets," according to the company. "Customers express a desire for a cost model for outsourcing that will more accurately reflect their IT usage," says Amy Mizoras Konary, program manager for software pricing, licensing and delivery research at IDC, a Framingham, Mass.-based IT advisory firm. Oracle Outsourcing provides support management services in an Oracle data center or at a third-party location. User-based purchasing options include: Outsourcing Location -- Oracle Data Center:
