Procter & Gamble Co. has become the 50th corporation to join the 100% Recycled Paperboard Alliance (RPA-100%), a four-year-old coalition aimed at promoting 100% recycled paperboard packaging across all categories of consumer products as well as commercial and industrial packaging. Approximately two-thirds of the North American paperboard-manufacturing industry now is represented in the alliance. RPA-100% offers a turnkey marketing campaign to participants to help them "convert high-, medium-, and low-share customers and prospects to 100% recycled paperboard packaging for their branded and private-label products." Included is direct marketing assistance to member firms and a standard, 100% recycled paperboard symbol for use on packaging. Procter & Gamble began using the symbol on its packages of "Puffs" tissues in the U.S. and Canada on Aug. 16.
