Citizens of Canada's Quebec province will go to the polls on Nov. 30 to choose between Premier Lucien Bouchard of Parti Qubcois and his Liberal Party challenger Jean Charest. The balloting will be about more than personalities; the candidates have quite different visions of Quebec's political and economic future. Bouchard has indicated that if given another term, and "winning conditions" prevail, there'll be another referendum on Quebec's separation from the rest of Canada. Charest, in contrast, wants Quebec to stay within Canada and get "rid of this threat of referendum that slows our economy."
