Reflecting Tough Times, Textile Association Downsizes

By John S. McClenahen The national trade association of the U.S. textile mill products industry, the American Textile Manufacturers Institute (ATMI), is shedding high-level staff and consolidating responsibilities as imports and the U.S. economic recession take their toll on its member companies. The job of deputy executive vice president and director of government relations is being eliminated -- as are the directorship of membership and administrative services, the chief economist's position, and the assistant director of government relations. Current ATMI Executive Vice President Carlos Moore will move to half-time status, and the restructured association will look for a new CEO.
