Rockwell Automation, a business of Costa Mesa, Calif.-based Rockwell International Corp. and Korea-based Samsung Electronics, on July 8 announced a strategic alliance that will allow Rockwell to license a range of factory automation products for resale under the Samsung Electronics brand name. The products will be aimed at manufacturers in Asia and include RSView32 (Rockwell Software), and ControlLogix (Allen-Bradley), and DeviceNet (Allen-Bradley). In a separate agreement, the companies agreed to work together to design, manufacture, and market future industrial automation products. "Teaming with Samsung Electronics adds strong resources in electronics development and production that help provide Rockwell customers worldwide with more timely and cost-effective automation solutions." Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. saw sales revenue of $16.6 billion in 1998. Rockwell Automation is a $6.7-billion electronic controls and communications company.
