AK Steel said the two companies will focus on product, process and application technologies for automotive sheet steels, as well as cooperative research programs for product development, application technology and computer simulation technology development. Based in Tokyo, Kawasaki Steel is one of Japan's largest steel manufacturers. Headquartered in Middletown, Ohio, AK Steel makes steel for the automotive, appliance, construction, and manufacturing industries.
