A problem any Internet-based company would like to have is so much response to its Web banner ads that it clogs their servers. The solution could be Equalizer 2.1 load balancer from Coyote Point Systems Inc., Sunnyvale, Calif. This system distributes traffic among server clusters, directing each click-through to the least-busy server. The Equalizer graphs in real time how long it takes each server to serve each banner, indicating if additional memory is required at that unit. Servers also can be taken down for service with minimum disruption of connections, as the system reroutes requests to other servers in the pool.
