Web-based facilities-management tools from Strategic Resource Solutions Corp., Cary. N.C., help reduce costs of operation across multiple sites. Technology, acquired in an alliance with Silicon Energy Corp., Alameda, Calif., enables integrated access and control of systems for energy and facility management, building automation, and maintenance and asset management through a standard Web browser. Clients utilize real-time energy use and cost data to manage energy demand against targets and historical benchmarks. As a result, organizations can reduce energy use by curtailing demand during peak periods -- which can account for as much as 50% of an typical commercial energy bill -- and purchasing energy at the lowest available cost. Silicon Energy's solution typically trims 5% to 20% off annual energy costs, according to the company.
