BP Gets Brandjacked (File Under: Can It Get Any Worse? Yes, It Can.)

The hits just don't seem to stop coming at BP these days. Between the apparent rampant corner-cutting, epic safety and process failures, and total environmental catastrophe in the making, now they've got to get piled on out in the social media space.

Apparently, someone (there is some controversy over who exactly the someone is that came up with the idea) decided to create a "fake" account on twitter and lampoon BP's response to the unfolding tragedy surrounding the Deepwater Horizon explosion.

Here's the link to the bpglobalpr account. As of now it's got nearly 100K followers (which is, if you're counting, more than 10 times that of the real BP account). And with tweets such as "I've gotta say, at night the gulf really doesn't look that bad" the writer is bringing some black humor to bear on a dark chapter in American history.
