How Could They Not Choose Ford?

OK, I'm mad again.

New York City just chose Nissan Motor Co Ltd. to build taxis for the city for the next 10 years. Reuters is reporting that the deal is worth $1 billion.

Ford was in the running as was Turkish manufacturer Karsan Otomotiv.

I have nothing against Nissan or Octomotiv. But an American city should choose an American auto manufacturer, especially given all of the strides that Ford has made over the years.

Why aren't they being rewarded for producing a quality product and not having to rely on taxpayers for financial support?

Here is a chance to employ Americans at a time when jobs are sorely needed. And here is a company that has been expanding and hiring here.

How will we improve our economy if our own cities don't help?
