Alcoa, Eaton Named to World's Most Ethical Companies List

The companies were evaluted on sustainable businesses practices as well as many other standards.

Alcoa and Eaton, among other companies have been named to the list of the "World's Most Ethical Companies" by Ethisphere, a think-tank dedicated to the research and promotion of profitable best practices in global governance, business ethics, compliance and corporate responsibility. The recipients were announced during the Ethisphere and Forbes joint-conference, "Driving Profit through Ethical Leadership" held on June 5 in New York.

"At Alcoa, our Values guide our behavior at every level of the organization worldwide. This recognition of our ethical business practice leadership exemplifies our commitment to integrity and being an upstanding corporate citizen," said Klaus Kleinfeld, Alcoa CEO and President.

"We are proud to be recognized by Ethisphere for the second year for our commitment to ethical awareness and practices," said Alexander M. Cutler, Eaton chairman and chief executive officer. "Eaton is a values-based organization dedicated to doing business right. Ethical values are fundamental to Eaton and distinguish us as a company."

In assembling the rankings researchers and analysts reviewed over 10,000 of the world's leading companies on six continents. Ethisphere analysts reviewed codes of ethics, litigation and regulatory infraction histories; evaluated investment in innovation and sustainable business practices; looked at companies' activities to improve corporate citizenship; studied nominations from senior executives, industry peers, suppliers and customers; and worked with consumer action groups for feedback and rating.
