Recall due to fuel pump problems

BMW announced on Oct. 26 that it had recalled more than 150,000 vehicles in the United States due to fuel pump problems.

The company said it had notified the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency of a voluntary recall of some 130,000 vehicles built between 2007 and 2010.

Affected vehicles would either receive a new fuel pump or updated software.

BMW said it had also notified the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that it would voluntarily recall nearly 21,000 X5 all-terrain vehicles for similar fuel pump problems that could lead to engine failure.

The pumps would be replaced, BMW said.
