Warner recently introduced a new range of Eco-Friendly tools

Cereplast, Inc., a manufacturer of bio-based, sustainable plastics, announced on April 6 that it will supply Warner Manufacturing Co. with bio-plastic resin for its new biodegradable Painting Accessories.

Warner Manufacturing Co. specializes in designing high-quality tools for professional trade people and do-it-yourselfers. The company has recently introduced a new range of Eco-Friendly tools which includes the first biodegradable painting accessories in North America. In addition to biodegradability, these tools combine ergonomic and sturdiness.

"It is encouraging to see more and more manufacturers developing and manufacturing products using sustainable alternatives to petroleum-based plastic products," said Frederic Scheer, CEO of Cereplast.

"Warner Tool was looking for a bio-degradable and compostable resin with similar mechanical properties to resins we were currently using. The critical factor was the flexural modulus as we needed the proper stiffness for the putty knife blades. Warner also wanted the material melt flow and process temperatures similar to our previous materials to maintain cycle time requirements. Cereplast was of great help in guiding us for composting testing at Cedar Grove," added Bill Laramy, Executive Vice President Sales & Marketing of Warner Tools Products.
