HUSCO International Opens Manufacturing, R&D Facility in India

HUSCO International, a manufacturer of hydraulic and electrohydraulic controls for construction, industrial, automotive and agricultural equipment, begin operations at their R&D and manufacturing facility in India located in the Talegaon Industrial Park near Pune. It is the first phase of their expansion in India.

The HUSCO facility in Pune is spread across a 21 acre campus, and has been divided into three phases of development. Phase I was completed in June 2007 with the construction of a 7,000 square meter facility including 2,000 square meters of office and R&D space and 5,000 square meters dedicated to manufacturing and product testing.

The R&D facility has 30 engineers presently and plans to ramp up to 100 by 2010.

The manufacturing facility employs cellular manufacturing, lean manufacturing and the use of Six Sigma for process improvement and cost reduction. The new factory, among the most modern hydraulics products manufacturing facility in the world according to the company, has a capacity to provide control valves for up to 200 machines per day and will ramp up to 500 per day by mid-2008.
