Millipore Corp., a provider of technologies, tools and services for the life science industry, last week officially opened a new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Danvers, Massachusetts. The over 30,000 square foot facility will produce a wide range of the companys Mobius single-use product line used for biopharmaceutical manufacturing technologies.

"We made a decision to move manufacturing of this product line from California and bring it to Massachusetts, which will mean additional jobs in the state, not to mention an exciting, innovative technology that is already having an impact on biopharmaceutical manufacturing," said Martin Madaus, CEO.

Millipore expects the new facility will employ 120 before the end of 2009. The company currently employs over 1,000 in Massachusetts and almost 6,000 around the world.

The company's Mobius FlexReady Solutions are made up of single-use assemblies (Flexware), separation devices, and process-ready hardware systems optimized for clarification, media and buffer preparation, tangential flow filtration (TFF) and virus filtration unit operations. The systems provide operational flexibility and efficiency plus improved product safety and process time.
