Performance Fibers' German Yarn

Investment in plant will expand production.

Three months after it acquired INVISTA Resins & Fibers GmbH's polyester yarn business in Germany, Richmond, Va.-based Performance Fibers is expanding one of the acquired facilities. The company is making a multimillion-dollar investment in modernized draw winder machinery that will expand production of low-denier industrial (LDI) yarn at its Bad Hersfeld, Germany, plant by 10%. The new line is expected to start up by the middle of 2007.

LDI yarn is used in sewing threads, and coated and laminated fabrics.

"This investment keeps our state-of-the-art facility in Bad Hersfeld competitive and strengthens our position as a leading provider of LDI yarns for specialty applications," said Greg Rogowski, president and CEO of Performance Fibers on Nov. 15, when the expansion was announced.

Performance Fibers, based in Richmond, Va., plans a multimillion-dollar investment in this plant in Bad Hersfeld, Germany.Performance Fibers is an affiliate of Sun Capital Partners Inc., a private investment firm with offices in the U.S., the UK and China.
