New Green Supply Chain Initiative for Sustainability

RedPrairie joins EPA's SmartWay program to provide solutions.

The U.S. EPA's SmartWay Transport Partnership has accepted RedPrairie Corp., a supply chain technology provider as its first solutions provider affiliate member. The Transport Partnership was established to promote the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and improve the efficiency of ground freight transportation. RedPrairie's program, E2e solutions, aims to help companies achieve their fuel and energy conservation goals in order to create a more environmentally sustainable supply chains.

"We are committed to our green strategy, including delivering solutions that are conscientious of the environment and programs to educate and enable employees. Through more efficient transportation, storage and packaging of goods, companies can significantly reduce dioxide emissions, wasted packaging, paper and energy consumption," said John Jazwiec, President and CEO, RedPrairie.

The seven points to reduce the environmental impact of supply chains include:

  • Optimize Routing and Consolidation
  • Improve Fleet Management
  • Increase Global Transport Efficiency
  • Create System Generated Tasks and Communications
  • Take Full Advantage of Improved Packaging Strategies
  • Use Energy Conservation Strategies in the Warehouse
  • Improve Labor Management
