The company offers Rapid Carbon Modeling (RCM) solutions which model the impact of carbon and other harmful greenhouse gas emissions.

Planet Metrics, a Carbon Information Management (CIM) company, announced on Nov. 11 that it is open for business. The company offers Rapid Carbon Modeling (RCM) solutions which model the impact of carbon and other harmful greenhouse gas emissions.

RCM provides broad views of carbon intensity associated with business activities in the supply chain, product design, packaging, logistics and waste streams. The goal is to understand where carbon emissions occur in the business, what drives these emissions, how they can be reduced, and where changing fuel, energy, or carbon costs may influence the cost of doing business, according to the company.

Carbon can be an indicator for sustainability performance, since it is a measure of resource efficiency and environmental impact. The information it provides supports decision making, risk analysis, strategy formation and performance tracking, explains the company.

"Corporate social responsibility initiatives have moved from peripheral 'nice to haves' to core business strategies. Environmental solutions are now about saving money by using fewer resources," said Andy Leventhal, CEO and co-founder of Planet Metrics. "In tough economic times, companies search for efficiency. Organizations can achieve high ROI by analyzing the way they manage their facilities, build products and services, transport and distribute goods to customers."

Planet Metrics is being driven by industry leaders from a variety of organizations including VeriSign, Method Home, Verizon, Cisco and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration. http://www.planetmetric.com/
