Challenge Manufacturing Co. LLC a Tier 1 manufacturer of engineered modular assemblies and metal formed products for the automotive industry, plans to build two facilities in Michigan.
They will build a 430,000-square-foot facility in the Lansing area. The project is expected to generate a total capital investment of $65.5 million. As it will create 420 jobs, the company is eligible for a $2.3 million Michigan Business Development Program performance-based grant.
They will also build an assembly plant of up to 450,000-square-feet in Oakland County. The company received $2.9 million in public funding from tax capture programs in the city of Pontiac for this project.
At least one of the factories is expected to supply a General Motors plant slotted for production of the next generation Chevrolet Camaro, as reported by Garrett Ellison of Mlive.com.
The company operates four facilities in West Michigan with more than 2,000 employees.
