British manufacturing output climbed by 0.4% in August compared with output the previous month, official data showed on Oct. 6. The Office for National Statistics revealed that manufacturing output, which excludes energy and mineral extraction, rose in August for the fourth month in a row. Manufacturing output accounts for 14.7% of overall economic activity

On a 12-month basis, output was 1.5% higher in August.

Meanwhile industrial production, which includes manufacturing output as well as mining, quarrying and utilities, rose by 0.1% in August from July.
