The Conference Board's index of leading economic indicators for France advanced one-tenth of a percentage point in February, the most recent month for which data are available.

The index now stands at 105.9 (1990=100).

The New York-based business research group notes that its leading economic index for France has slowed during the past six months and that a loss of strength among individual elements of the index has become more widespread.

"The slowdown in the growth rate of the leading index over the last six months suggests that the [French] economy is likely to grow moderately in the near term."
