German Manufacturing Orders Up In July

Orders placed with companies in the German manufacturing sector rose by 1.8% on a 12-month basis in July, the Economy Ministry calculated on Sept. 6. The increase was primarily attributable to an above-average number of big-ticket orders mainly from aboard, the ministry explained in a statement.

In June, German manufacturing orders had already edged up slightly by 0.2%. Foreign orders jumped by 2.5% in July, while domestic orders rose by a modest 1.2%, the ministry said.

Using a two-month comparison to iron out seasonal fluctuations, pan-German orders increased by 0.7% in June and July combined from the figure for April and May.
