The rise beat market expectations and reversed a drop in factory output in September.

Japan's industrial production rose 2.4% in October month-on-month, reversing a drop in factory output in September, government data showed on Wednesday.

The rise beat market expectations of an increase of around 1.2%.

The government said the main contributors to October's production rise were the transport, machinery and chemical sectors.

In a survey of producers, industrial output was expected to edge down 0.1% in November and then rise 2.7% in December.
