British manufactured production climbed by 0.1% in April from the levels in March and a year earlier, the Office for National Statistics said on June 10.
The ONS added that a wider measure of industrial production, which includes mining, quarrying and energy, rose by 0.2% in April on a monthly and annual basis.
"There's nothing in April's UK manufacturing figures to suggest that the industrial sector won't share in the slowdown getting underway in the economy," said Vicky Redwood at Capital Economics. "Although manufacturing output edged up by 0.1% on the month, this reversed only a fraction of March's 0.5% drop. Similarly, the 0.2% rise in industrial production followed a sharper fall in March."
