Metals Processor to Expand Mexico Operations

Acero Prime, in a joint venture between Feralloy Corp., U.S. Steel and Mitsui USA, said it will expand operations at its Ramos Arizpe, Mexico, facility.

The expansion will include 55,000 square feet of additional space at the facility and the acquisition of a new multi-blanking line to service the appliance and automotive industry in Mexico.

New equipment will offer the capability to handle 72-inch-wide and 30-metric-ton coils and an auto-adjusted two-cassette leveler, according to the company. Acero Primes current infrastructure, including four 32-ton overhead cranes, rail spur capacity, real-time EDI capability and skilled personnel, will support the new services that will be offered as a result of the expansion, according to the company.

Acero Prime expects to complete the expansion and start up the new equipment in November.

Acero Prime is a metals processor and logistics management company servicing the automotive, appliance and other industries. The company operates three plants in Mexico: in San Luis Potosi, Ramos Arizpe and Toluca.
