The Conference Board's index of leading economic indicators for the UK increased six-tenths of a percentage point in March, the most recent month for which data are available. It was the index's fourth consecutive monthly increase. The index now stands at 136.4 (1990=100).
Adjusted for inflation, GDP for the UK grew at an annual rate of 2.6% during the first three months of this year, and "continued strength in the leading index in recent months suggests that moderate economic growth should continue in the near term," says the Conference Board, a New York-based business research group.
