The Conference Board's index of leading economic indicators for Spain declined two-tenths of a percentage point in October, the most recent month for which data are available. The index now stands at 140.8 (1990=100).

However, in recent months the leading index has been growing at an annual rate of 2% to 3%, and this suggests the Spanish economy "is likely to continue growing moderately in the near term," says the New York-based business research group.
