The Conference Board's leading economic index for Mexico rose sharply in August, the most recent month for which data are available. The index had posted three large gains in the previous five months, in part as a result of rising oil prices.
Its leading index for Mexico now stands at 155.4 (1990=100), says the New York-based business research group. "The improvement of the leading index in recent months suggests that strong economic growth should continue in the near term."
