Swedish Economy To Grow By 3.6% In 2006

Finance Minister Paer Nuder said on April 18 that Sweden's economy will grow by 3.6% this year, higher than previously forecast. Presenting his government's supplementary 2006 budget, Nuder said growth would flatten to 3% in 2007.

The Swedish economy grew by 2.7% in 2005.

Increased consumer spending, rising incomes, low interest rates and a high employment rate were all contributing to increased growth this year, as was a continued high level of corporate investment, Nuder said.
