Dell said it would sell a computer production facility in Lodz, central Poland to Taiwan's Foxconn group, Dell Polska spokesman Rafal Branowski said.
"The plan must still be approved by the European Commission and this will take several months," he added. "Nothing will change as far as production is concerned at Lodz.
"After the transfer process is completed, Dell will become a client of the Foxconn company in Poland in the area of production services," a Dell company statement said.
Dell's plant in the central Polish industrial city of Lodz produces desk and lap top computers as well as servers. Opened in January 2008, it currently employs 1,700 people.
According to Branowski, the ownership change is aimed at "simplifying and improving efficiency in global operations."
"Company employees will keep their jobs and their positions," he said.
After initially expressing doubts, in September the European Commission approved 54.4 million euros (US$82 million) in public aid for the Dell plant in Lodz.
In January Dell announced the transfer of some of its production from a plant in Limerick, Ireland, to the Lodz facility before closing the Irish plant and so cutting 1,900 jobs.
