U.S.-based Tesla has been hit with several lawsuits stemming from car accidents, and its driver-assistance technology has provoked regulatory probes.

In 2020, there were nearly 400 homicides and more than 37,000 injuries from intentional violence.

The recall applies to some 2021-2024 Wrangler 4xe models.

The problem comes from an issue with the vehicles' anti-lock brake systems (ABS), "which could leak brake fluid internally and cause an electrical short," the NHTSA said.
