With a volume of nearly 600 million units of RFID equipment, German manufacturers are the leaders in RFID investment in Europe. France and the UK each with a market of nearly 500 million units in 2004, take second place according a report entitled "RFID Industry (2005-2007) -- An Update (Insight to European Market)" by RNCOS, a Delhi,India-based market research company.
New R&D centers opening in the Netherlands, Denmark and other Nordic and Scandinavian countries, will lead to an increase of pilot RFID programs according to the report. Additionally, Western Europe should experience substantial growth in its RFID market by 2009 based on the report findings.
