IBM Strengthens Its Supply Chain Portfolio

Trying to garner more of the $23.5 billion market for supply chain optimization, IBM has acquired Viacore Inc., an Irvine, Ca.-based company that provides business process and integration solutions. Viacore's supply chain product, BusinessTone, is an on-demand solution that assists companies managing high-volume, real-time process flows.

The acquisition of Viacore will give IBM additional capabilities in the electronic and retail industries.

"Viacore's business process integration solutions have helped our customers create dynamic supply chains that deliver significant cost, responsiveness and productivity improvements," said Fadi Chehad, CEO of Viacore. "We've enjoyed a collaborative sales and marketing relationship with IBM for several years, and our combined efforts will create a stronger value proposition for companies looking to develop a competitive advantage through supply-chain Business Transformation Outsourcing."
