Bringing products to market faster and cheaper often determines success. To help companies that want ERP systems to work with product lifecycle management systems (PLM), UGS Corp., a Plano, Texas-based PLM software company, has teamed up with Microsoft Business Solutions.

As both companies have an open standards approach it was possible to integrate UGS Teamcenter with Microsoft Great Plains. This collaboration enables data from engineering and corporate ERP systems to be united -- making the process from engineering to manufacturing smoother and faster. A single source for product and process data is created -- allowing easy access and reuse of data.

"This level of collaboration and innovation has been the norm of operation for large companies, but the increasing adoption of Microsoft Business Solutions has put the capabilities in reach to a much larger market segment," said Steve Bashada, vice president of Teamcenter applications, UGS.
