Jobless Claims Edge Up To 313,000

Initial claims for unemployment insurance increased to 313,000 last week, some 4,000 more than the previous week's revised total of 309,000, the U.S. Labor Department reported on June 29.

However, the department's four-week moving average of initial claims continued to decrease, suggesting to some economists that decent job creation has taking place in June. Last week the average was 305,500, a decline of 6,000 from the previous week's revised average of 311,500.
