Surveys and Special Reports

IW's Best Manufacturing Companies
The IW 50 Best Manufacturing Companies is IndustryWeek's report on the 50 best publicly held U.S. manufacturing companies. To identify the top performing manufacturers, the IW formula factored in revenue growth and profit margin over the past three years, with 2006 results weighted most heavily. We also considered three-year performance in four other financial ratios: inventory turns, asset turnover, return on assets and return on equity. This list was published in the June 2007 issue of IndustryWeek.

Leading Through Growth

Manufacturing companies must grow to remain competitive, yet executives at many large, global companies face obstacles and uncertainty when it comes to product innovation, operational excellence and customer growth and retention -- three areas they must improve continuously in order to grow revenue. Capgemini and IW Custom Research surveyed manufacturing executives about these challenges and found that only about 40% are very confident they can grow revenues enough over the next three years with current resources to maintain or improve market share.
